In March, we introduced Microsoft 365 E7, the Frontier Suite, and outlined the partner opportunity to guide customers from AI pilots to company-wide Frontier Transformation. Today, Microsoft 365 E7 and Microsoft Agent 365 are generally available, along with partner-ready resources you can use to move customer conversations from interest to execution.

This blog builds on the March announcement and focuses on what is now transactable, what’s new since the announcement, and how to turn this milestone into a repeatable motion across your customer base.

As customers move from experimentation to scale, they are no longer asking what AI can do. They are asking how to deploy it securely, govern it consistently, and deliver measurable outcomes. Microsoft 365 E7 is designed with Intelligence + Trust as the foundation for that transformation.

For partners, general availability creates a practical way to guide customers from experimentation to execution. Your value is in turning the suite foundation into scoped, repeatable scenarios that scale, and in establishing the operational readiness customers need.

Microsoft 365 E7: The foundation for people and agents

With general availability, customers can now broadly purchase and deploy Microsoft 365 E7 across their organizations. Microsoft 365 E7 is a single, integrated suite designed to operationalize secure AI at scale, built on Intelligence + Trust.

The suite brings together:

  • Microsoft 365 E5: Enterprise-grade productivity, security, identity, and compliance
  • Microsoft Entra Suite: Identity and network access controls designed to secure employee use of apps and AI
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot: AI embedded directly into the flow of work
  • Microsoft Agent 365: The control plane for governing, observing, and securing AI agents at scale

For partners, this simplifies the upgrade path and clarifies the conversation. Instead of stitching together point solutions, you can anchor customer planning on one foundation for users and agents.

Microsoft Agent 365 expands to new agent types

Agent 365 is also generally available today. Each Agent 365 license covers an individual who manages or sponsors agents, or uses agents to perform work on their behalf. This is designed to support consistent and predictable governance of agent activity as adoption scales.

We’re also announcing the previews of new Agent 365 capabilities designed to support scaled adoption with the right controls in place, including:

  • Observability, governance, and security of “AI teammates,” including agents that operate with their own credentials and permissions.
  • Discovery of agents and shadow AI, using capabilities of Microsoft Defender, Entra, Intune, and Purview across local and cloud agents.
  • A secured, managed environment for agents to work in Windows 365 for Agents.
  • Coverage for a wide ecosystem of SaaS agents, including agents built by software development companies (SDCs).
  • Support for evaluation, adoption, and usage from Microsoft and partners worldwide.

Where partners can win first

As customers move from pilots to production, a clear pattern is emerging. Agent 365 is becoming the enterprise control plane, and the dominant motion is governance-first, so scale does not outpace trust.

This shift creates new monetization opportunity for partners. Demand is increasing for recurring managed services and repeatable delivery models. The opportunity now is to standardize your approach across services, Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), and builder motions, then scale it across your customer base.

“Agent 365 represents a critical step in the evolution of the digital workforce. By providing a centralized control plane that applies identity, security, observability, and governance directly to agents, Microsoft enables organizations to scale agentic innovation with speed and trust—without compromising their existing security and compliance investments. Together with Microsoft, Protiviti is helping organizations become Frontier Firms—confidently and securely.”
- Tom Andreesen, Protiviti Managing Director and Global Microsoft Solution Leader

Services partners: Emerging Agent 365 services opportunities

Agent 365 offers partners the ability to deliver services that empower customers to adopt agents responsibly and at scale. The opportunity extends beyond building agents alone and includes governance, security, deployment, and ongoing operations.

Three opportunity areas stand out:

  1. Governance accelerator (2 to 6 weeks): A fast-start engagement to establish an Agent 365 foundation and baseline operating model. What is typically included: agent inventory and discovery, initial policy setup (identity, security, lifecycle), a governance framework, and a roadmap.
  2. End-to-end transformation: A full journey from strategy and architecture to deployment and operating model design. What is typically included: readiness assessment, identity and security architecture, lifecycle governance model, and adoption and change management.
  3. Managed governance: Ongoing services to monitor compliance, manage lifecycle decisions, and maintain visibility into performance and risk. What is typically included: continuous monitoring and compliance, lifecycle management (from deployment to retirement), executive dashboards, and reporting.

Together, these offers shape a complete Agent 365 services strategy.

“Agent 365 helps organizations put AI agents to work in the flow of everyday tasks, enabling faster decisions and better experiences for employees and customers. We’re proud to partner with Microsoft on this launch, combining the power of their platform with Slalom’s human-centered approach to help clients move beyond pilots and deliver measurable impact at scale.”
- Betsy Pridmore, Managing Director, Slalom Microsoft Cloud Team, Slalom

Channel partners: Make the upgrade path repeatable, then attach services

For channel partners, the opportunity is to standardize the upgrade path and attach services that accelerate time to value. Start with customers already using Microsoft 365 E5 plus Copilot, Microsoft 365 E3 plus Copilot, or Microsoft 365 E3, or E5 customers focused on scaling AI securely.

Package readiness workshops, security and governance assessments, deployment, and adoption offers. Over time, establish an operating rhythm that evolves into managed services as agent usage grows.

“Agent 365 gives CISOs exactly what we’ve been missing: real-time visibility into every agent as it’s instantiated, continuous insight into its behavior, and the ability to govern all agents from a single pane of glass, regardless of where they live. That’s how you scale AI innovation without sacrificing trust, control, or security.”
- Jeremy Nelson, Insight North America CISO

Microsoft 365 E7 also creates a clear monetization path through CSP incentives tied to meaningful customer outcomes, including expansion and sustained usage.

Software development companies: Scale agents with enterprise trust

Enterprises now expect governed, secure, observable agents. Software development companies are already building agents designed to operate under Agent 365 governance, creating early momentum and repeatable patterns across the ecosystem.

“Every CIO I talk with is asking the same thing: ‘How do I manage hundreds, or thousands, of AI agents without losing control and making sure they actually work?’ Microsoft Agent 365 is the answer to that enterprise governance and scale, and Celonis Process Intelligence provides the deep operational context they need to be effective. Together, we’re giving companies a clear way to measure exactly how their agents are performing and, critically, how that translates into helping the business.”
- Dan Brown, CPO, Celonis.

For these partners, integrating with Agent 365 can accelerate adoption by aligning solutions to enterprise AI requirements and customer expectations. Check out our showcase of solutions built together with our customers and partners.

High-value opportunities include:

  • Line-of-business integrations: Connect agents to enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), ticketing, data platforms, and proprietary workflows with the right identity and access patterns for your customers.
  • Vertical or function-specific agent solutions: Deliver packaged solutions for common industry workflows (financial services onboarding, healthcare scheduling, retail merchandising) or functional workflows (IT operations, HR, finance).
  • Modernizing legacy automation into agentic workflows: Upgrade brittle scripts and rule-based automation into agent-driven workflows that can reason across steps and systems, while aligning to governance and audit expectations.
  • Extending Copilot experiences with custom agents: Build agents that extend Copilot into specialized workflows and tools, connecting users to the systems and processes where work gets done.

We are pleased to highlight a select group of partners who have collaborated with our engineering teams to support customer evaluation, deployment, and adoption, and who have agents fully enabled for management through Agent 365.
