Microsoft has been proud to be a part of the UK for nearly 40 years and throughout that time we have taken immense pride in helping the UK prepare for the challenges of the future. As a result, we have witnessed the impact of powerfully transformative technologies such as AI, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT) and Mixed Reality.
While we remain optimistic about the role of technology and the benefits it represents for our partners and our shared customers and society in general, we are equally mindful of the consequences of large-scale change associated with industrial revolutions like the one we are seeing now. Consequently, we believe that the nations which will thrive in this new world will not just be the ones that adopt such technologies in a deep and ethical way but those in which everyone possesses the right skills and opportunity to make the most of what's ahead.
Like others, we share the view that the UK is facing a skills crisis. We do not have enough people entering the workforce with the right technical and digital skills, and furthermore, we need more diversity among those who are building our future. While this issue is much broader than gender alone, we are passionate about encouraging more girls and young women to consider a career in the technology industry. In order to build this future, our industry must better reflect the people we aim to serve. And lastly, we need to adopt a culture of lifelong learning in the UK. All of us working today will need to learn new skills to make the most of this new world of opportunity.
If you work for one of the many UK-based Microsoft partner organisations, you likely not only share our technology vision and commitment to customers, but also our belief in the role technology can play in addressing broader societal challenges. Together, we can achieve amazing things. These shared values and priorities are integral to how we work and achieve success together.
That's why we are asking our partners to sign the Partner Pledge which focuses on these critical goals:
Helping the UK prepare for the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution through Microsoft's Digital Skills programme.
Joining our efforts to create more apprenticeships in the UK.
Improving the diversity of the UK technology workforce through the Tech Talent Charter.
Ensuring Artificial Intelligence is developed and implemented in responsible and ethical ways, as we set out in AI for good and Future Computed.
We believe these priorities are not just the right thing to do but also make strong business sense. If you agree and share our vision and passion, we invite you to sign the Partner Pledge and work with us to help the UK thrive in this exciting new future. To confirm your pledge please download the document and, once signed, please email us a copy.
Thank you to the partners who have already signed the Partner Pledge:
