Cognizant empowers enterprise transformation with AI and intelligent automation

Cognizant guided healthcare, finance, and retail giants to transform, migrate, and modernize using Microsoft intelligent automation.
January 27, 2026

Cognizant, a 2025 Microsoft Partner of the Year award winner and global services company, is redefining enterprise transformation across industries. By democratizing AI and embedding intelligent automation, Cognizant helps organizations modernize systems, reduce costs, and accelerate growth. Their unique approach—combining deep Microsoft expertise, strategic change management, and a culture of innovation—delivers measurable results, including millions in savings, productivity boosts, and record-setting employee engagement.

Organizations across industries face mounting technical debt, fragmented legacy systems, and the urgent need to consolidate onto modern, scalable platforms. Three Cognizant clients—one in healthcare, one in financial services, and one in retail—faced similar pressures. Regulatory compliance and governance added further complexity, especially in healthcare and finance. Cognizant’s clients needed a forward-looking technology roadmap to streamline operations, unlock data-driven insights, and support automation for better employee and customer experiences.

Cognizant’s approach: Empowerment through Microsoft intelligent automation

Using Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot agents, and robust governance frameworks, Cognizant delivers solutions that are secure, scalable, and tailored to each client’s needs. Ongoing training, upskilling, and community-building ensure sustained adoption and a strong digital culture. An essential part of that digital culture is Cognizant’s belief that innovation with AI should be accessible to employees at every level—not just technical teams.

“At Cognizant, intelligent automation is more than a technology capability—it’s a strategic enabler for business transformation,” said Chakradhar Gooty Agraharam, Global Intelligent Automation Leader at Cognizant. “By combining Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Copilot innovations with our deep industry expertise, we help clients accelerate automation at scale, unlock new efficiencies, and deliver measurable outcomes. Our partnership with Microsoft empowers us to lead with innovation, speed, and precision—driving hyper automation strategies that redefine what’s possible for enterprises worldwide.”

For their healthcare, financial services, and retail engagements, Cognizant selected solutions that met each client's immediate needs while supporting long-term scalability. They implemented strong governance frameworks—using the Microsoft Power Platform Center of Excellence Starter Kit alongside their own methodologies—to maintain regulatory compliance and secure operations. By empowering clients to adopt Microsoft intelligent automation tools, including Copilot agents, Microsoft Power Automate, and Power Platform, Cognizant helped their clients streamline processes, unlock insights, and enhance both employee and customer experiences.

Clients saw major gains in process efficiency as automation reduced manual work and freed employees to focus on higher-value tasks. Customer satisfaction improved, particularly in healthcare, where agentic workflows made clearer communication and more personalized, human-like responses a reality.

"Where a lot of automation before was a little more rule-based and rigid, agentic solutions today are actually learning and giving evolved guidance and sentiment. You see this humanness coming through, which is supporting adoption and impact," said Mariesa Coughanour, Head of Advisory, NA Delivery & Mindshare at Cognizant.

Cognizant's ongoing training and community-building ensure sustained adoption, driving lasting cultural and operational transformation across each organization. Coughanour explained that "change management and organizational change is a key component that has to be in each of these programs."

Cognizant addressed regulatory concerns by creating security-hardened, compliance-aligned foundations with governance tailored to each client's needs.

Future-ready culture: extending innovation beyond the engagement

Cognizant’s extraordinary ability to understand and empower clients isn’t magic—it’s part of their company culture. The organization is committed to enabling everyone, at every level, to use AI to achieve more. A striking example of Cognizant's commitment to democratizing technology is their recent Guinness World Records win for vibe coding.

In August 2025, more than 53,000 participants joined Cognizant’s global vibe coding event, setting the record for the largest online generative AI hackathon. Vibe coding is an intuitive, AI-assisted way to build software by describing ideas in natural language instead of writing lines of code. The event offered a range of tools—from simple prompt-based platforms to more advanced coding agents—allowing employees of all skill levels to participate. The initiative not only demystified technology but also fostered organizational change and empowered employees to create solutions for real business challenges.

By extending this mindset of accessible and inclusive AI innovation to their clients, Cognizant will continue to transform organizations. Incidentally, “vibe coding” was Collins Dictionary’s 2025 word of the year—another sign that Cognizant is ahead of the curve in preparing for an AI-powered future.
