CardioLog Analytics case study

CardioLog Analytics increases Office 365 consumption at Nordson

Seeking to increase SharePoint consumption

The communications department for equipment manufacturer Nordson wanted to boost SharePoint consumption and increase newsletter readership.

Driving adoption of SharePoint and raising productivity

Nordson worked with CardioLog Analytics, which helps companies improve productivity through SharePoint and other Microsoft products.

Actionable insights and reporting lead to greater engagement

Nordson was then able to identify visitor activity and navigation metrics. This let Nordson optimize its newsletter, which increased engagement.

Analytics designed for Microsoft solutions

CardioLog Analytics, based in Boston, Massachusetts, has been in the analytics space since 2005 and focuses on analytics for SharePoint on-premises environments, SharePoint Online, Yammer, and Microsoft Teams. The global business serves mostly enterprise customers. Its cloud solutions are hosted on Microsoft Azure and are available in a Software-as-a-Service model on Microsoft Power BI. CardioLog Analytics can track Office 365, SharePoint 2016, SharePoint 2013, SharePoint 2010, Yammer, and more.

Nordson, headquartered in Westlake, Ohio, designs and manufactures equipment involving adhesives, sealants, coatings, fluid management, and ultraviolet curing. The company’s products serve many industries, including packaging, electronics, medical, nonwoven fabrics, and general product assembly and finishing.

Nordson optimizes its SharePoint portal

Jerry Bendobler, Head Data Analyst for Nordson, said visitor activity, navigation, and search reports were essential elements of optimizing Nordson’s SharePoint portal.

“One function of our intranet is that it acts as an information portal for employees, handled by our corporate communications department,” Bendobler said. “They were challenged to find a tool that would increase readership and viewership of the employee section, with the objective to increase overall adoption rates.”

After trying various solutions, Nordson’s communications department used CardioLog Analytics and found its metrics and insights valuable. Nordson also liked its integration with SharePoint Active Directory. Nordson was able to identify visitor activity and navigation metrics generated with CardioLog Analytics usage tracking reports. With this data, Nordson could identify its users’ primary resources, which shaped its plan for optimizing the newsletter and the newsletter’s location within SharePoint.

“With CardioLog Analytics, we were able to identify the most useful resources for users,” Bendobler said. “We then saw a massive increase of interest in using the intranet, because once they started using the SharePoint portal, they kept surfing and searching for more resources.”

Nordson increased its overall Office 365 consumption by 48 percent within the first six months and improved adoption by 35 percent over the same period.

“We have now been using CardioLog Analytics for several years, generating monthly reports,” Bendobler said. “We can undoubtedly support its quality, stability, accuracy, innovation, and ease of deployment with the usage experience we’ve had.”

“What we really connected to with CardioLog Analytics was the deep integration with SharePoint Active Directory and user profiles to ensure finding portal users’ information was easy and accessible through the reports we generated.”
