Note that licensing ended on July 31, 2017 for Windows® 8.1 Embedded Industry Pro products and also the COA version of Windows® 7 Professional Simplified Chinese Language (EM) – (Limited Distribution for China). Products ending on December 31, 2018 also added.

Windows 10 Home for Value Notebook & Value Desktop SEAP which will now go EOL on October 1, 2017. Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 and Windows Storage Server 2012 Standard Additional License ROK has been extended by 12 months to December 31, 2018. These changes are reflected in the updated reports linked below.

Certificate of Authenticity (COA) Returns reminder: Microsoft is removing Windows COA SKUs on July 31, 2017. This has been communicated as part of OST Final Documents and in last month’s EOL communication. Based on partner feedback, Microsoft will be extending returns for credit beyond the standard 90 days to 150 days (December 31, 2017) for these SKUs.

NOTE: Partners should be aware that when the RMA is created and processed, an automatic email is sent. This system-generated email will indicate that COAs are for destruction after 90 days; however, Microsoft will make an exception for the return of Windows COA SKUs until December 31, 2017.

The product EOL dates have been announced for the following OEM stock keeping units (SKUs). You may no longer sell or distribute the impacted products after these dates. This communication summarizes key dates and provides information to assist you in managing the end of licensing activities for the impacted products.

Details

  • The product EOL dates have been announced for the following OEM SKUs. This communication summarizes key dates (for the next 13 months) and provides information to assist you in managing the end of licensing activities for the impacted products.
  • Note: This communication and the reports referenced represent the dates communicated in our systems as of May 10, 2022.
  • Master Licensable and EIPN file for impacted licensables, End Item Part Numbers (EIPNs).
  • EOL means the last day in which the company may order or distribute this product.
  • For your reference, the EOL dates and products listed below may be updated monthly to align with changes communicated on the published price lists for Client, Applications and Office, and Server products.
  • Review the Windows lifecycle fact sheet for detailed information regarding End of Sales and End of Support dates. Microsoft recommends that you inform your end users of these important dates. You should direct end users to the Windows website for general information.
  • Reference the Windows product information document for comprehensive details of the current Windows product, recovery media, and EOL offerings.
  • Returns: As a reminder, you have 90 days from the EOL date to return certificates of authenticity (COAs) and digital product keys (DPKs) that were purchased within the previous 365 days. See Section 6 ("Returns") of the Operational Handbook for details.
  • Distribution: For purposes of Additional Terms (ATs) that contain an EOL restriction, a product is deemed to be distributed when it leaves the ownership and control of the company. For example:
    • If the units have been distributed from the OEM to a partner (e.g., a Distributor or Reseller), the partner may sell those units through after the EOL date has passed.
    • If the OEM has inventory of the product after the EOL date, the OEM then must return the product and begin manufacturing with the next licensed version of the product.
    • OEMs can provide EOL Replacement Recovery Media for Customer Systems of previously licensed Client and Server products. MS permits a 10-year distribution period from the date of Product EOL.
