To make that easier, we have rounded up key updates for Microsoft partners building, selling, and scaling cloud and AI solutions. Use this brief to plan your next steps, align your go-to-market motion, and carry momentum into FY27 with confidence.

One week later, the Microsoft Partner FY27 GTM Kickoff Event on July 28 builds on that foundation. This no-cost digital event gives partners a closer look at FY27 go-to-market priorities, investments, and updates across Azure solution plays, Microsoft Marketplace, and opportunities for software development companies.
The GTM Kickoff is a practical next step after MCAPS Start for Partners. It is designed to move from strategic alignment into execution planning, with sessions across AI Business Solutions, Commercial Cloud and AI, and Security. Partners can choose a primary area of interest during registration to tailor the event-day schedule, while still getting on-demand access to all sessions after the live event.
For Commercial Cloud and AI partners, this is a chance to sharpen plans early. Use the event to review your FY27 priorities, refresh your campaign focus, and identify where your Microsoft Marketplace and solution play motions may need updates before customer engagement accelerates.

Build momentum from recent announcements and platform updates
In FY26, Microsoft strengthened the integration between data types across its platform—from the operational database to the semantic and agentic layer. At Microsoft Ignite 2025, we took our next-generation databases to general availability (GA), including SQL Server 2025 and the open, MongoDB-compatible Azure DocumentDB. Then, at Microsoft Build 2026, we added the public preview of Azure HorizonDB.
These feed a unified foundation:
- FabCon and SQLCon 2026 brought databases and Fabric together on OneLake.
- Microsoft Build 2026 turned Fabric into a backend for AI-powered apps.
- Azure Databricks can now access OneLake data natively (preview), enabling zero-copy interoperability scenarios.
- Fabric IQ hit GA to give agents a shared semantic layer.
For partners, this is a clear data platform opportunity. IDC research found that partners engaging customers with Microsoft data platform technologies generate $11.821 in partner services, software, and resale revenue for every $1 of Microsoft data solution-related revenue, with partners who provide services seeing a higher multiplier of $14.76.2
Turn Microsoft Build updates into next steps
Microsoft Build delivered a broad set of announcements that can create near-term opportunities for partners heading into FY27. Rather than treat these as standalone updates, use them as inputs for customer conversations, early-adopter motions, modernization plans, and Marketplace strategy.
Azure Linux public preview gives partners another path to update or migrate customer Linux workloads. The platform is designed as a secure, cloud-optimized Linux foundation built for consistency, performance, and control at hyperscale, with zero licensing cost. This can reduce time spent on compliance checks, operating system upgrades, and security patching—freeing up more time to deliver customer outcomes.
Partners should also review the published Partner Center dates tied to partner-reported Azure consumed revenue (PRACR) fiscal-year close readiness. Confirming dates, ownership details, and eligibility requirements now can reduce processing risk as FY26 closes.
Microsoft Marketplace also continues to create new routes to market. Multiparty private offers are expanding to 30 countries in Europe, opening additional opportunities for partners to collaborate on deals and simplify transactions. Software development companies can reach new customers with less complexity, while channel partners can strengthen customer relationships and differentiate their offerings with vetted solutions.

Turn results into recognition
As you plan for FY27, take time to recognize the customer outcomes your team has already delivered. Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards nominations are open through July 7, giving partners an opportunity to showcase leadership in Frontier Transformation on a global stage.
Recognition can reinforce credibility with customers, Microsoft sellers, and the broader partner ecosystem. It gives your organization a way to translate measurable outcomes into a story of impact, innovation, and customer value.
If your team is leading cloud and AI transformation, review the award categories and submit your nomination before the deadline.
