Learn about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015, represent a shared and universal commitment to deliver on 17 ambitious Global Goals for peace and prosperity for people and the planet by 2030.

The United Nations Global Compact encourages businesses to adopt responsible policies and practices in human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption. It aims to align business strategies and operations with ten global principles and the SDGs.

Changemaking is about accelerating your capacity for innovation. Changemakers identify a specific problem or opportunity to drive social impact, give themselves permission to do something about it, and use a combination of knowledge, resources, and determination to tackle it. Entrepreneurship for Positive Impact

Microsoft Entrepreneurship for Positive Impact supports startups, ISVs, and digital natives to scale their technology to help solve our world's most pressing challenges. Gain access to additional coaching and enablement support by nominating for the Microsoft Entrepreneurship for Positive Impact (EfPI) Accelerator cohort, running from October 2023 – September 2024.

Benefits include:

  • Dedicated support from the Entrepreneurship for Positive Impact global team.
  • Enablement support to publish your impact solution on the commercial marketplace.
  • A dedicated senior coach (Microsoft Leader) for one-on-one coaching for 9 months.
  • Feature opportunities with Microsoft and third-party impact organizations.
  • Access to the Entrepreneurship for Positive Impact online community and global network.

Be discovered as a social impact and diverse-owned business

Partners may attest as a social impact or diverse-owned business in Partner Center and upload relevant disclosures and certifications, such as UN Global Compact, B-Corp etc., and be discovered on Microsoft seller tools and on AppSource. Availability varies by region.

FAQs

Who is eligible to participate in the #BuildFor2030 Initiative?

All members of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program with a valid PartnerID who are developing or have developed a solution or service that supports at least one of the #BuildFor2030 themes are eligible for the initiative. If you haven’t already joined the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program, get started here.

How do I participate in the initiative?
Submit your information to get connected to resources and feature opportunities via our nomination form.
Who is eligible for the Entrepreneurship for Positive Impact Accelerator?

If you meet the following criteria, we welcome your application:

  • Your company must be a for-profit business.
  • Your impact: Clearly articulated positive impact on one or more United Sustainable Development Goals (priority given to SDG 4, 8, 13, 16).
  • Impact: Your company has a clearly defined methodology for stating, measuring, and tracking business impact.
  • Technology: Role of technology, especially tools like AI/ML, is central to the business and organization potential for positive impact.
  • Technology: Your company has a clearly defined ethics framework for any use of AI, and can speak broadly to the ethics of your work and impact.
  • Funding: Seed - Series B funding.
  • Team size: 5-150 employees.
  • Team: You and/or your C-suite is committed to the accelerator participation.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: Your company is committed to enabling diverse representation within your organization (e.g., age, gender, class etc.) and seeks input from and represents communities you aim to serve.
  • ESG: Your company's solution seeks to respond to critical environmental, social, governance (ESG) challenges.
