DBSync case study

DBSync integrates cloud and on-premises apps to increase data usability

Tracking hours based on material consumed is cumbersome

Using Microsoft Dynamics 365 for project tracking and QuickBooks to track labor hours, payroll, and orders caused a lot of back and forth between the company and clients because the systems did not communicate.

DBSync Cloud Workflow boosts cross-department communication

DBSync Cloud Workflow automates business processes, enabling users to avoid double data entry and perform scheduled ETL operations between Dynamics 365 and QuickBooks.

Scalable automation delivers significant time and cost savings

DBSync Cloud Workflow provides data transparency by making the data available in both applications. Additionally, Cloud Workflow reduces employee overhead by delivering real-time data sync.

DBSync helps organizations make connections and increase data usability

A Microsoft integration partner since the inception of Microsoft Dynamics, DBSync offers its Cloud Workflow integration platform to Dynamics users. Serving everyone from SMBs to enterprise clients, DBSync's mission is to integrate cloud apps with other cloud and on-premises apps to increase data usability across organizations. Given the need for integration in all types of businesses, DBSync engages with companies in many industries. This case study highlights a DBSync customer in the construction/manufacturing industry.

The company used a customized version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 to track projects and used QuickBooks to track labor hours, payroll, and orders. This configuration caused a lot of back and forth between the company and its clients on payday, as the systems did not communicate with each other. Additionally, the company had to maintain complex spreadsheets to calculate how much material was consumed by labor during a project and how much material was left over.

The CRM solutions maintained most of the project status and workforce details, but the time spent on projects was tracked in QuickBooks for payroll purposes. Users had to manually enter data in Dynamics 365 to track workforce tasks. Moreover, the materials a project consumed were tracked in Dynamics 365, so any purchase order raised for extra materials had to be manually entered in QuickBooks to control finances.

Cloud Workflow for Dynamics 365 Business Central delivers data transparency

DBSync provided a custom solution to automate business processes and avoid double data entry. Using its pre-built Dynamics and QuickBooks Connector, DBSync created workflows for the customer to read and write data back and forth between Dynamics and QuickBooks. Now, project and employee records in Dynamics are automatically integrated with QuickBooks as jobs with an employee assigned, and timesheet data from QuickBooks is integrated with Dynamics for each employee working on a job.

“Microsoft Dynamics has helped transform our customers’ business and DBSync is proud to help customers use all of their data in the most efficient and scalable way, saving them tons of time and money,” said Connor Evans, Evangelist, DBSync.

With Cloud Workflow for Dynamics 365 Business Central and QuickBooks, DBSync's customer reduced project delivery time by 25 percent, removed the need to manage data in external spreadsheets, and structured accounts payable to automatically calculate the ROI on each project.

“Our clients love using Microsoft Dynamics to help manage their sales pipeline and grow their businesses. DBSync takes pride in helping expand upon the Microsoft product suite to help our customers automate their entire business process no matter what systems they’re using.”
