This exam is the replacement for exam 70-532 and the beta exams AZ-200 and AZ-201. Why is Microsoft replacing aforementioned exams with AZ-203? Microsoft is transforming its strategy to produce role-based exams instead of technology-based exams. The role most closely aligned with 70-532 is a Developer role. Microsoft conducted a thorough job task analysis (JTA) to truly understand the skills required for success in the Azure Developer role. The skills were narrowed down to what is measured in the certification process—the end result is this exam. Microsoft defines the Azure Developer role in this way: Azure Developers design and build cloud solutions such as applications and services. They participate in all phases of development, from solution design, to development and deployment, to testing and maintenance. They partner with cloud solution architects, cloud DBAs, cloud administrators, and clients to implement the solution. Azure Developers should be proficient in developing apps and services by using Azure tools and technologies, including storage, security, compute, and communications.
