Stylized banner for MCAPS Start for Partners

As we begin a new fiscal year, I want to start with gratitude to all Microsoft partners. Thank you for the role you play every day in bringing Microsoft innovation to customers and turning it into business outcomes. Microsoft’s reach, scale, and market impact are possible because of the trust, expertise, and execution you bring to customers across every segment, industry, solution area, and geography.

This is a pivotal moment for our industry and a significant business opportunity for partners. AI adoption is accelerating at an incredible pace, and customers are ready to scale from early adoption to business-wide execution. Capabilities that once required massive scale and resources are now accessible to businesses of every size and every customer segment through the Microsoft partner ecosystem.

The differentiator is the combination of the Microsoft platform and the innovation, expertise, and reach of our partners. Together, we are creating new opportunities for you to build, grow, and lead across every customer segment and solution area.

At Microsoft, we call this Frontier Transformation. It is the shift to a new operating model where people and agents work together to transform how organizations operate, innovate, and grow. Organizations of all sizes are rethinking how work gets done, how decisions are made, and how growth is achieved in the agentic era, opening new opportunities to create value, expand markets, and drive growth.

Powering Frontier Transformation together

Frontier Transformation becomes real when partners combine the Microsoft AI platform with the expertise, services, and trust customers need to transform how they operate, innovate, and grow. More than 500,000 partners bring technical depth and customer trust to the market. Together, we turn AI ambition into business value.

For partners, this is built on a foundation of intelligence and trust. Microsoft IQ is the intelligence layer of our AI platform, connecting people, data, workflow, and web context into a real-time for copilots and agents. Agent 365 delivers the trust layer with enterprise-grade security, governance, and compliance, enabling customers to scale AI with confidence. Together, this provides a comprehensive platform for partners to build on and extend with your own intellectual property, agents, services, and solutions.

Partners that embrace Frontier Transformation will be positioned to capture new opportunities across customer segments. Microsoft analysis based on IDC data estimates the FY27 total addressable market at more than $1.3 trillion, including $566 billion in enterprise, $175 billion in midmarket, and $625 billion in small and medium-sized business.1

Agents are being embedded in how organizations work, creating demand for partners who can deploy them securely and govern them effectively. IDC projects that more than one billion AI agents will be actively deployed worldwide by 2029.2 The Microsoft partner ecosystem is well positioned to support customers in this work.

What is changing in FY27

At MCAPS Start for Partners, we shared our investments in the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program to enable partners to lead Frontier Transformation for customers. The program is the primary way we invest across the full partner lifecycle.

FY27 is a year of significant investment across every pillar of the program. These investments are designed around three connected motions: build, go to market, and co-sell. Together, they give every partner a path to build capability, differentiate in the market, create demand, align with Microsoft sellers, and grow profitably.

Building differentiated capability

Customers are looking for partners who can design, deploy, govern, secure, and scale AI. Microsoft is investing in skilling, credentials, recognition, partner benefits packages, and delivery resources so partners can build capability for the agentic era.

That starts with Agent P, our new AI-driven consultative sales coach for partners. Agent P gives partner sellers an always-available, scenario-based agent grounded in Microsoft content. It is designed to enable sellers to build fluency faster, strengthen customer conversations, and connect technical depth to business value.

We are also creating structured skilling on-ramps across sales, technical, delivery, and marketing roles, including Certification Weeks, the GTM Titan Path, and the Partner Skilling Hub.

The new Frontier Transformation Engineer badge is a credential designed for engineers in your organization. Built on the same profile and skilling methodology as the FDEs in Microsoft Frontier Company, it brings together foundational certifications, hands-on project-ready learning, and delivery patterns that enable your solution engineers and architects to design, deploy, and scale production-ready AI solutions across the Frontier stack.

At the organization level, the Frontier Partner specialization is  a premier distinction for Microsoft partners. Earned by those who demonstrate expertise in the design, security, and scale of enterprise-grade AI and agentic solutions, it unites advanced skilling, multiple specializations, and proven delivery into a single mark of engineering excellence.  It serves as a strong signal of  technical capability in our ecosystem, and it is  a clear signal to Microsoft sellers and customers as to which partners are ready to lead Frontier Transformation.

We are also introducing new and expanded specialization paths aligned to high-demand customer needs. These include Agentic Business Solutions, Agentic Security, Digital Sovereignty, and Clinical Applications. The Clinical Applications specialization, coming in Q1, will be our first industry systems integrator specialization, focused on healthcare partners implementing Microsoft Dragon Copilot and driving healthcare-focused AI outcomes.

Microsoft is also expanding the Support Services designation to include proactive customer success services. This gives partners who drive adoption, optimization, and long-term customer outcomes a formal path to earn and showcase that credential to customers.

For device partners, two new Device designations are launching: Windows Device OEMs for Copilot+ PC devices and Windows Device Providers for deployment. General availability is planned for November, with partners able to begin tracking progress in Partner Center in late Q1 FY27.

Capability also requires the right resources to build and demonstrate solutions. Partner benefits packages give eligible partners access to Microsoft product, technical, marketing, and business resources, including consulting hours with technical and program experts, through the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program.

In early FY27, the partner benefits packages will add Microsoft 365 E7, Agent 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot Business, Defender and Purview for Business Premium Suites, and Dragon Copilot seats, with a unified Partner Center experience to simplify activation. These offerings include discounted licenses, Azure credits, and personalized partner guidance designed exclusively for partners to reduce costs and accelerate innovation.

Cloud Accelerate Factory is now expanding to partners with eligible specializations. It gives partners access to Microsoft-delivered implementation services that can accelerate customer modernization projects. Combined with FY27 Frontier Accelerate incentives, Cloud Accelerate Factory enables partners to focus on higher-value services,  support customer outcomes, and scale more opportunities.

The new Agentic Partner Capability Score will recognize partners with demonstrated ability to build and deliver agents. It will enable eligible partners to earn points at an accelerated rate and give Microsoft sellers and customers a clear signal of partners that are agent-ready.

Go to market with reach + scale

Building capability is the first step. The next step is creating fast paths to demand, clear customer conversations, and efficient routes to market.

Partner Marketing Center Pro is Microsoft’s AI-powered demand generation platform for partners. It enables you to launch campaigns faster, reach the right audiences, and convert engagement into pipeline through campaign-ready content available in 132 languages.

Co-op is now shaped around demand generation and high-yield activities, with guidance to direct 30% of co-op investment toward Copilot and to leverage propensity signals to target the right customers with the right motions. For distributors, the new Reseller Activation category creates an additional opportunity to invest in partner-led demand generation and market activation, expand channel reach, and accelerate Copilot-led growth.

Microsoft Marketplace is the destination to increase discoverability, simplify procurement, and scale repeatable solutions. Omdia estimates Marketplace transactions will enable a nearly $300 billion partner services opportunity by 2030, and partners can generate up to $6.26 in services revenue for every $1 of software solutions sold through Microsoft Marketplace.[3]

Frontier Accelerate for Microsoft Marketplace provides software development partners a single destination for investments, incentives, benefits, and support. This creates a structured path for you to build, publish, grow, and differentiate your apps and agents.

For SMB partners, FY27 also introduces a customer outcome-centered go-to-market framework: powering work with secure AI, creating a competitive edge with AI, running the business securely, scaling finance processes with agents, and modernizing data for AI.

This gives Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners a structured approach to align go-to-market and co-sell motions with Microsoft, win new customers, and accelerate business outcomes in FY27. It frames the partner opportunity through the lens of Frontier Transformation and highlights the readiness, investments, and seller alignment needed to capture customer demand, deliver measurable impact, and drive growth with SMB customers.

Beginning August 1, CSP partners that serve SMB customers can offer a 30-day Microsoft 365 Copilot trial for up to 25 users through a new $0 SKU in CSP. Partners can activate the trial directly for eligible customers, guide deployment, and usage, and configure post-trial renewal options, including seat quantity and billing term. The trial will auto-convert to paid at the end of the trial, creating a scalable partner-led motion for Copilot adoption and conversion.

Co-selling with Microsoft

Co-sell is a repeatable engine between partners and Microsoft sellers, creating clear alignment across the deal cycle, from qualification to close to expansion.

Through enhanced seller alignment, shared pipeline management, and coordinated go-to-market, eligible partners can co-sell with Microsoft through a repeatable motion. The impact is clear: when partners and Microsoft sellers co-sell, we see 84% higher win rates, 41% larger deals, and a 55% increase in deals shared with partners year over year.[4]

Partner Center provides the foundation for partner identity, access management, and seller provisioning. Building on recent enhancements in Partner Center, Partner Center for Sales represents the next evolution of the co-sell experience. It will bring AI-powered account intelligence, opportunity signals, and guided actions into the co-sell motion, enabling Microsoft and partner sellers to focus on the right customer opportunities together. This capability will launch later in FY27.

Co-sell eligibility is linked to demonstrated capability. The Frontier Partner specialization and new agentic specialization paths give partners clear ways to demonstrate capability to customers and Microsoft sellers.

We are also expanding the Marketplace co-sell opportunity. In the last two months, we launched 33 new markets for multiparty private offers in Europe, Australia, Japan, and South Africa. Continued expansion of multiparty private offers and the global availability of resale enabled offers create more ways for partners to co-sell at scale.

Co-sell turns demonstrated capability into a shared pipeline. FY27 incentives extend that motion by rewarding partners that acquire new partners, increase adoption, and expand strategic workloads.

Incentives reward growth

FY27 incentives are designed to reward partners that create customer growth and deliver measurable outcomes. Our incentives are organized by Cloud Solution Area (CSA) and are delivered through a streamlined, simplified framework, Frontier Accelerate. We are increasing our programmatic incentives for each CSA and rewarding SIs and influencing partners for delivering measurable, high-impact scenarios.

For Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners, our incentives reward customer expansion, including new customer acquisition, seat expansion, workload growth, and adoption in qualifying scenarios. Microsoft is also increasing margin in strategic AI workloads, including Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft 365 E5 and E7, giving partners more opportunity to grow as customers adopt and scale AI.

Together, these incentives are designed to prioritize new-to-ecosystem customer growth while minimizing channel shift. By leveraging the investments Microsoft is making in all pillars of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program, the partners that build capability, create demand, and turn customer adoption into durable growth are well positioned to maximize earning potential and generate impact on their P&L.*

A connected partner experience

Microsoft is also investing in the partner experience itself. The goal is to make the program easy to navigate, more personalized, and more actionable.

AI-powered experiences in Partner Center provide intelligent recommendations, insights, and guidance tailored to your needs. These experiences are designed to make it easy to identify opportunities, understand what action to take next, analyze business performance, and get maximum value from Microsoft offerings and investments.

Unified for Partners is our next-generation support experience for partners, starting with CSP partners. It enables high-quality customer outcomes with predictability and scale. The expanded Support Services designation is the starting point for this next chapter, signaling Microsoft-validated capabilities to customers and unlocking performance-based discounts of up to 40% on Unified for Partners.

How to take action now

The opportunity ahead is clear. Customers are ready to scale AI across their organizations. They need the combination of Microsoft’s industry-leading innovation and technology plus one of the world’s largest and experienced partner ecosystems.

  1. Start by reviewing your status in Partner Center and confirming which benefits, incentives, designations, and specializations align to your business priorities.
  2. Prioritize skilling for your sales and technical teams. Build fluency in the Microsoft AI stack, repeatable delivery patterns, governance, security, and customer value conversations.
  3. Use Frontier Accelerate to plan your go-to-market execution, align with Microsoft sellers, and identify the incentives, skilling, and delivery resources that fit each customer opportunity.
  4. Review the FY27 incentives guide and use Partner Center eligibility tools to map customer opportunities to qualifying CSP incentives, co-op funds, Azure consumptive promotions, and per-user promotions before you transact. CSP partners should also prepare for the October 1, 2026, CSP growth margin launch by reviewing the required API changes, documentation, resources, and sandbox environments.
  5. Refresh your Marketplace listings and go-to-market motions so customers can clearly understand the outcomes you deliver.
  6. Assess which recognition paths matter most for your business, including Solutions Partner designations and specializations.

Powering Frontier Transformation

The momentum we are seeing globally, across all customer segments and industries, gives me tremendous confidence in the year ahead.

Every major technology shift creates new leaders. Not because they reached the technology first, but because they understood how to turn innovation into value for customers. That has always been a hallmark of capability for Microsoft partners. This is our moment to apply that strength and expertise to advancing the business outcomes for customers around the world.

Thank you for your partnership, your innovation, and the role you play every day in bringing Microsoft technology to customers. I am excited about what we will accomplish together in FY27 as we deliver Frontier Transformation to customers worldwide.
