The Microsoft partner ecosystem is a force for good in the world. The tech solutions and services we provide for our customers enable insights, improve efficiencies and positively impact the quality of life for organizations and individuals across the planet. In particular, Microsoft and our partners have been leveraging the cloud to boost the reach and power of their businesses. Reducing loss, maximizing production, and incorporating new technologies across the industries of agriculture, energy, and construction.

Here are just a few examples of how our partners are advancing sustainability with their innovative solutions.

Increasing food production with smart agriculture solutions

To keep up with the world’s growing population, food production needs to increase almost 50 percent by 2030 and 100 percent by 2050. Because of urbanization, industrialization, and climate change, growers also need to raise these additional crops with less water.

Lindsay Corporation, a Microsoft Azure IoT partner, is a global manufacturer and distributor of irrigation and infrastructure equipment that is working to tackle this challenge by building out intelligent digital irrigation solutions using Microsoft AzureAzure IoT Edge, and Azure Machine Learning. Growers will use these solutions to enhance irrigation management, broaden the detection and reporting of irrigation system issues, and evaluate and continuously improve the sustainability and profitability of their operations.

Pioneering the smart infrastructure for energy-neutral homes

Microsoft partner TBI creates sustainable solutions to design, renew, and maintain the built environment. They’re working together with Avanade to support the Dutch government’s goal to make homes energy-neutral by 2050.

At the project’s initiation, TBI placed sensors within each home it manages to measure temperature, pressure, and carbon dioxide data to the Azure Cloud. They built a digital model of each home using Azure Digital Twins, then with Avanade they set up dashboards using Microsoft Power BI and Azure Times Series Insights. This data allowed TBI to find opportunities to make each home more energy neutral and to consult with residents or send technicians to resolve inefficiencies.

Advancing climate accounting infrastructure to help reduce enterprise emissions

KPMG and Microsoft have partnered to advance the scaled deployment of climate accounting infrastructure, designed to support enterprises in achieving emissions reductions in line with their corporate commitments and compliance obligations.

The goal of this solution is to allow building owners to not only track carbon emissions but to enable them to engage with other building owners to sell and purchase excess green energy.

It’s encouraging to see our partners’ solutions making such a meaningful difference for our customers, communities, and planet. As we continue to innovate together, I’m confident we’ll be able to do even more to protect our environment while meeting our customers’ ever-changing needs.
