RE’FLEKT is a Munich-based technology company that enables any business or industry to create their own in-house augmented and mixed reality (MR) applications. Since its founding in 2012, RE’FLEKT has grown to an international team of over 60 employees in Munich, Dusseldorf, Los Angeles, and San Francisco and is recommended by leading analysts, including ABI Research and Gartner (Gartner Cool Vendor).

In 2017, RE’FLEKT was the first augmented and MR platform to integrate direct publication to the HoloLens and has been a Microsoft Mixed Reality Program (MMRP) member since early 2018. Since joining the MMRP, RE’FLEKT has connected with global Microsoft customers and enhanced its skillset to support a variety of industries who benefit from MR.

Leybold, a leading vacuum manufacturer, wanted to enhance customer support and sales activity for their company. With the TURBOVAC i/ix, a new line of vacuum pumps recently introduced, they looked to AR to support their vision.

Their goal was to eliminate paper-based manuals and handbooks by replacing them with a hands-free AR guide. This guide would provide step-by-step instructions where technicians could easily navigate their way through common repair scenarios to both save time and reduce repair costs.

To support Leybold’s vision, RE’FLEKT developed the Leybold Maintenance App. With this app, customers can use HoloLens to digitally view the pump on top of its real-life counterpart and explore various components of the TURBOVAC i/ix, without any disassembly required.

AR support for medical devices in hospitals and surgeries

Getinge is now using RE’FLEKT ONE to create AR and MR applications to support doctors and hospital staff with training and configuration of their medical devices. PulsioFlex AR guides staff and trainees through the setup of multiple PulsioFlex procedures. Using the inbuilt camera, PulsioFlex AR projects crisp 3D visualizations of the tubes, plugs, and connections onto the real PulsioFlex device with step-by-step instructions and information. Hospital staff can now quickly and efficiently configure the device to specific patient needs in both static and dynamic scenarios.
