People working at a table together on computers

I’ve had the privilege of working closely with some of the world’s most visionary partners across both Oracle and Microsoft, and I can tell you with confidence: there’s never been a more exciting time to be part of this alliance.

At our recent Oracle Database@Azure: Partner Forum, I had the opportunity to join an all-star panel of executives including Karan Batta, Tim Hatton, and Brett Tanzer to share how this unique collaboration between Oracle and Microsoft is unlocking new possibilities for partners and customers alike.

A unique cloud offering, built for the enterprise

Oracle Database@Azure is a game-changer. It’s the only solution that brings Oracle Exadata infrastructure into Azure datacenters, allowing customers to run their Oracle Database services natively in Azure—without compromise. Whether it’s Oracle RAC, Exadata, Autonomous Database, or classic applications like E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, or JD Edwards—partners can now help customers modernize faster, more securely, and with lower latency.

From day one, our goal has been to meet customers where they are—bringing together the depth of Oracle’s database leadership with the breadth and innovation of Azure. This partnership now spans 15 global regions, with more than 30 additional regions coming online in the next 12 months.

What we covered at the Partner Forum

The Partner Forum featured a packed agenda, kicking off with an update on the Oracle-Microsoft partnership and culminating in a fireside chat and live Q&A.

Our key messages to partners included:

  • Exadata choice and flexibility: Run Oracle Exadata Database Service on dedicated or shared infrastructure depending on your customer's needs.
  • Autonomous operations: Reduce overhead with Oracle Autonomous Database—fully managed and AI-powered.
  • New in limited preview: Base Database Service, a simplified and cost-effective option for running Oracle Databases in Azure, is now available. Partners can request early access, provide feedback, and work closely with Oracle through white-glove onboarding support.
  • Tight Azure integration: Use Microsoft Fabric, Purview, Sentinel, and Azure AI services alongside Oracle workloads for a unified cloud experience.
  • Low-latency performance: Get the best of Oracle’s performance and the Microsoft ecosystem in one place—with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) operating directly inside Azure datacenters.

Partners: This is your moment

I emphasized during our chat that this isn’t just a technology integration—it’s a story of opportunity. One that empowers partners to:

Lead large-scale cloud migrations without requiring customers to abandon trusted Oracle technologies.

  • Help customers innovate with AI, analytics, and data services native to Azure.
  • Differentiate with real-world success stories like State Street Bank and Craneware, who are already reaping the benefits of Oracle Database@Azure.
  • Collaborate directly with Oracle through early access programs like Base Database Service, helping to shape the roadmap and test scenarios before general availability.

Tim Hatton and Karan Batta provided fantastic context on how Oracle Exadata still powers some of the most mission-critical applications in the world—and why it remains the system of record for industries like finance and public sector. Brett Tanzer showed how Azure-native tools like Microsoft Fabric, Purview, and Sentinel enable powerful cross-platform analytics, governance, and security for modern enterprise architectures.
