Establishing trust through transparency and empowerment

Microsoft Solutions Partner Allgeier (Schweiz) AG has attained designations in Data & AI (Azure), Digital & App Innovation (Azure), Infrastructure (Azure), and Modern Work. Allgeier specializes in migrations and workplace digitalization, supporting medium and large companies across various sectors on their journey to becoming data-driven enterprises. With a motto of "Empowering You," Allgeier helps businesses optimize their data analytics and cloud security infrastructure through customer-backed advice, one-on-one coaching, and comprehensive technology support. Their coaching service presents customers with the tools and expertise they need to maintain and further develop the solutions Allgeier implements, empowering business decisions in the future.

To do this, Allgeier provides thorough documentation and coaching for every project to help customers understand and manage their new setup. Because Allgeier establishes a foundation of trust and transparency, Allgeier has found their customers return for guidance when they need additional support or want to implement a new tool or service.

A strong foundation for building innovative solutions

A Microsoft partner for over 20 years, Allgeier started out consulting on SharePoint implementations. Over time, Allgeier changed their focus to support their current services, with the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program facilitating that transition. Allgeier believes the program's offerings, such as go-to-market resources, playbooks, training materials, and licenses, are a major benefit to their organization.

Often, a customer will come to Allgeier with a question about the capabilities of a specific product. To see what's possible before responding to the customer, Allgeier can create sandbox environments with their Microsoft licenses to experiment with use cases and test ideas. These environments also help Allgeier try out new software and expand their expertise. By growing their experience with Microsoft products in these testing grounds, Allgeier has found that they're able to build solutions faster and provide more comprehensive support to customers. Notes Alex Dean, Head of Data Analytics at Allgeier, "The Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program has really helped us to grow our competencies in the areas we want to focus on, such as cloud infrastructure, data, and AI."

This drive for innovation and excellence with Microsoft data and Business Intelligence (BI) tools helped Allgeier to earn the Analytics on Microsoft Azure specialization. This Microsoft badge is awarded to partners who pass a rigorous audit process, demonstrating that Allgeier adheres to best practices around analytics and Azure. It signifies to customers that Allgeier is committed to delivering high-quality and successful analytics solutions using Microsoft technologies.

"We knew right away that Microsoft Fabric was going to be the product everyone wanted. We could not wait to add the Fabric Analyst in a Day workshop to our portfolio."

In a Day workshops expand skill sets; grow customer base

Allgeier noticed customers were interested in implementing new BI tools but lacked the resources and insights to understand what they needed. Microsoft In a Day workshops provided an environment where customers could get hands-on experience with a product to help them make informed decisions about what to implement. These workshops are also a great way for Allgeier to expand their expertise by researching solutions to address issues that new customers encounter. Since 2020, Allgeier has organized 70 In a Day workshops, with an average of 15 attendees per event. They provide five workshops: Dashboard in a Day, Fabric Analyst in a Day, Automation in a Day, App in a Day, and Power Pages in a Day.

Allgeier believes In a Day workshops help them keep up with trends and match offerings with what customers need. With a bird's eye view of evolving customer requirements and interests, Allgeier can tailor their approach to focus on what customers want. "We knew right away that Microsoft Fabric was going to be the product everyone wanted. We couldn't wait to add the Fabric Analyst in a Day workshop to our portfolio" says Nicolas Rehder, Senior IT Consultant for Allgeier.

The popularity of In a Day workshop topics fluctuates, which also helps Allgeier stay on top of trends. Not long ago, their most popular workshop was Dashboard in a Day, but recently they've seen increasing signups for Fabric Analyst in a Day. Customers seem eager to take the Microsoft Power BI knowledge they gained from Dashboard in a Day to the next level with Fabric.

"We transitioned Thommen Group to Microsoft Fabric because it made it possible for us to do everything in Fabric under one roof—we didn't need multiple resources."

—Nicolas Rehder, Senior IT Consultant, Allgeier

Dashboard in a Day leads to a BI transformation

An attendee of Allgeier's Dashboard in a Day workshop, Thommen Group, had an existing BI tool, but they wanted something more modern, flexible, and user-friendly. Through the Dashboard in a Day workshop, Thommen Group realized Power BI was the solution they were looking for and enlisted Allgeier for one-on-one coaching and to help create a Power BI dashboard.

After seeing the productivity gains from their new dashboard, Thommen Group decided they could benefit from modernizing their entire BI stack. Allgeier created a plan to set up a new infrastructure using Azure Synapse Analytics and migrate Thommen Group's existing BI infrastructure, structured query language server, integration services, and extract, transform, and load process. However, mid-way through project planning, Fabric launched, and it became clear that the new product offered tremendous possibilities.

Despite Fabric still being very new, the trust Allgeier built with Thommen Group and their deep knowledge of Microsoft data stack resources convinced the customer to enter new territory. Over the course of six months, Allgeier built Thommen Group's new backend using Fabric and transitioned their legacy BI reports to Power BI. With the new setup launching in July 2024, and efficiencies already seen during testing, Thommen Group is excited to transform their analytics capabilities. Says Rehder, "We transitioned Thommen Group to Microsoft Fabric because it made it possible for us to do everything in Fabric under one roof—we didn't need multiple resources."

Guiding customers to a fruitful future with Fabric

Allgeier senses that more Fabric implementations are in their future. Notes Rehder, "With AI gaining traction, the capabilities of Fabric coupled with Microsoft Copilot and Azure AI make it an attractive solution." As more businesses decide to explore the capabilities of Fabric to improve their BI setups, Allgeier is poised to offer the right guidance. With a successful Fabric implementation under their belt, and Dashboard in a Day and Fabric Analyst in a Day workshops in high demand, Allgeier is ready to bring customers into the future of BI.
