Medius case study

Medius partners with Marc Jacobs to streamline the fashion giant’s accounts payable approach

Accounts payable processes can be an immense burden

Marc Jacobs was dealing with a burdensome number of invoices and needed to improve efficiency and streamline its accounts payable procedure.

MediusFlow on Azure radically simplifies the process

Medius implemented its Microsoft Azure cloud-based MediusFlow solution to increase efficiency and control over the entire accounts payable process.

Driving efficiencies and delivering dramatic cost savings

Marc Jacobs reduced the time it takes to pay invoices from upwards of 90 days to 5 days, and 92 percent of Marc Jacobs’ invoices are now routed to the correct approver without human intervention. Additionally, approvers can receive and approve invoices anywhere from any device.

Medius, an accounts payable expert

Medius, founded in Sweden in 2001, is a leading provider of cloud-based accounts payable (AP) invoice automation solutions. The company’s MediusFlow solution automates and simplifies the entire accounts payable process, providing customers with shortened lead times, greater control, and improved visibility of financial metrics. The Microsoft gold partner has more than 2,500 customers in over 50 countries, including 150,000 unique users in the cloud.

MediusFlow is based on Microsoft Azure, integrates directly with Microsoft Dynamics, and has a competitive edge in the marketplace due to its speed to value and ease of use. An uncomplicated user interface process (UIP) allows for rapid deployment of the solution and ensures the end customer can readily experience the value the solution provides. This makes onboarding new customers simple, fast, and pain-free.

Medius is 100-percent focused on AP expertise and remains engaged with customers to hit benchmarks, maximize AP efficiency, and help them gain control over their company.

Two people choose fabric

Medius empowers fashion industry leader Marc Jacobs with Azure-based AP solution

Needing to quickly engage with its suppliers, coordinate transfer of necessary materials, and get products from the runway to the rack as efficiently as possible, Marc Jacobs International, a global fashion house, partnered with Medius to streamline and automate its account payable process.

Marc Jacobs engages with multiple suppliers for each collection it creates, resulting in an extremely high volume of invoices and a supplier network that is constantly expanding and changing. To mitigate this problem, Medius and Marc Jacobs automated the AP workflow by implementing MediusFlow and integrating it with Marc Jacobs’ ERP solution, Microsoft Dynamics.

As a result of the implementation, the time required for Marc Jacobs to process invoices has been reduced from upwards of 90 days to just 5 days. When invoices arrive in Marc Jacobs’ centralized AP inbox, they are automatically routed to the appropriate approver by MediusFlow (92 percent are routed without human intervention), and because the solution is cloud-based, approvers can receive and approve invoices from any device. This improves the company’s ability to innovate and provides increased transparency and insights into the company’s bottom line. Additionally, by having better control over its AP processes, Marc Jacobs has enhanced vendor relations by ensuring invoices are correctly routed and paid on time.

“At Marc Jacobs, we’re launching a completely new offering every four months—a model that’s rather unique to the fashion industry. By embracing this hybrid cloud model, we’re better enabling and empowering creativity to continue to push the envelope when it comes to our designs. Now, we’re able to tap into the most talented artisans around the world to bring our avant-garde creations from the runway to our vast network of stores and retailers as quickly as possible.”
