Over the course of their long-standing strategic partnership, Commvault and Microsoft have worked hard to collaborate and help their joint customers. “Every single Commvault customer is a Microsoft customer, be it on-prem and/or with Microsoft Azure,” said Randy De Meno, Chief Technologist, Microsoft Products & Microsoft Relationship at Commvault. “Today we’re helping our customers migrate to the cloud, and especially Azure, using Azure Storage and Azure Compute, to make that migration seamless and easy, and enable our customers to become experts in managing their data with a single Commvault solution on top of Azure infrastructure.”

“Commvault has had great success working with Microsoft Go-To-Market Services…our teams jointly supported 26 Unleash the Power Seminars and Hands On Labs worldwide in 2017, which led to over 600 qualified opportunities. One of the joint wins our teams partnered on was at one of the world’s largest publishing companies, HarperCollins.”

“In all aspects of the partnership, we’ve been on a journey together.” said Steve Guggenheimer, Corporate Vice President of Developer and Platform Evangelism at Microsoft. “We’ve had a tremendous relationship with Commvault, going back almost 20 years. Commvault is a Gold Certified Partner, which signifies the highest level of partnership with Microsoft, not just on the technology side, but on the go-to-market side.”

According to De Meno, co-selling efforts with Microsoft Go-To-Market Services have been particularly fruitful for Commvault. “Commvault has had great success working with Microsoft Go-To-Market Services and witnessed exceptional increases in our joint field activity, enabling us to accelerate customers using Commvault to the Azure infrastructure. For example, our teams jointly supported 26 Unleash the Power Seminars and Hands-on Labs worldwide in 2017, which led to over 600 qualified opportunities. One of the joint wins our teams partnered on was at one of the world’s largest publishing companies, HarperCollins.”

HarperCollins was an existing Commvault customer that was adopting a ‘cloud-first’ strategy, De Meno said. “We partnered together with Microsoft to optimize their digital transformation to Azure. Our teams worked closely together to demonstrate how they could leverage our joint experience, knowledge and investment in Commvault's Azure integration that delivered high savings in terms of space and IT time. Plus, our support for Azure ExpressRoute optimized advanced disaster recovery and Data Management in Azure.”

At HarperCollins, Russell Bradford, who was the infrastructure manager during the migration, said the decision to go with Commvault and Azure was a clear one. “We had Commvault as our on-premise backup and knew that not only could it meet our requirements, but also it would integrate perfectly with Azure. So that decision was a ‘no brainer’,” Bradford said. “We were moving our enterprise infrastructure into the cloud, so we needed enterprise tools…from our experience of Commvault, we knew it was a perfect fit.”

Guggenheimer said he looks forward to continuing to partner with Commvault in the future. “Commvault has continued to deliver the solutions that their customers are looking for,” he said. "We’re partnering together to help those customers move to the cloud in a way that takes advantage of the capabilities Microsoft has built in Azure, so we couldn’t be more pleased with the partnership and look forward to doing more work together.”
