How It Works
Solution Assessments are based on an industry best practice that incorporates a set of proven processes for managing and optimizing an organization’s IT assets.
With customers continually looking to streamline operations, increase productivity, control costs, and improve security controls in ever-changing IT environments, there are more ways than ever to identify new workloads and services that will support their strategic objectives and grow your business.
As more and more personal devices access company networks, cybersecurity threats continue to increase dramatically. Microsoft Software Asset Management (SAM) solutions offer the proven processes and software you need to help your customers manage, protect, and optimize IT assets—and drive their businesses forward.
The Solution Assessment Incentive Program is a worldwide channel incentive program designed to help Microsoft partners build sustainable businesses by utilizing Solution Assessments based on a defined scope of work. Customer insights gained from these assessments allow you to support them to better deploy, adopt, consume, and gain long-term business value from their Microsoft cloud investments and services, whilst uncovering additional licensing and service related opportunities for your organization.

On May 25th, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) became effective in the European Union. This standard for personal data privacy governance, and security has also been adopted by other geographies. The first step in becoming GDPR compliant is to understand a company’s IT and data infrastructure through discovery. The Microsoft SAM Managed Service Program is designed to provide customers with a continual, governance-based service to help them more effectively manage their IT assets and processes. The Program, delivered through accredited SAM partners, offers customers ongoing high-quality services such as technology roadmaps to help them meet their short and long-term goals, SAM optimization and maturity reviews, and value-based consultations such as cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure optimization, or product end-of-support guidance.
According to Gartner, "By 2021, growing challenges of managing multiple environments and usage scenarios, combined with SAM skills shortages, will increase the usage of SAM managed service providers by 40 percent."*
SAM is an intricate discipline with a limited supply of experienced resources. By effectively taking advantage of SAM managed service providers with essential skills and expertise, sourcing and vendor management leaders can bypass resource challenges to deliver a range of strategic benefits.
To participate in this Program, partners must meet eligibility criteria and pass a rigorous assessment, based on industry SAM standards, conducted by a third party Independent Evaluator. Once in the Program, partners will be able to utilize their exclusive status to set themselves apart in the marketplace, drive new business opportunities, gain more exposure, and become trusted advisors to customers through their digital transformation journeys.
