Empowering AI to combat financial crime
Monetizing IP with Microsoft AI leads to solutions that can address challenges of any size. Enterprise software company SymphonyAI has taken on the $5 trillion-a-year, global problem of financial crime.

Money laundering, fraud, and related crimes represent a significant burden on the economy, impact individuals and organizations, and are often linked to other serious criminal activities. To detect and report such crimes, banks and other financial institutions maintain large investigation teams and systems to scrutinize massive volumes of data.

By integrating generative AI algorithms and machine learning models, the Symphony Sensa Copilot can assist investigators and find previously undetected risks. Early tests show it boosted the productivity of a financial institution’s compliance department by approximately 60 percent. The combination of SymphonyAI’s Sensa-NetReveal platform and copilot offers a real advantage to fraud and financial crime units. The copilot incorporates Microsoft AI infrastructure, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service.

SymphonyAI has committed to investing $100 million in generative AI over the next three years for product development of vertical applications across industries. With Azure OpenAI, the company is accelerating that development with advanced AI capabilities across its portfolio.

Adding value with smarter experiences and reduced costs
ServiceNow, a platform-as-a-service provider specializing in digital workflow, enlisted the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to add more value and AI capabilities for customers of its Now Platform. While the platform already used AI functionality to power enterprise applications and intelligent workflow automation, ServiceNow recently expanded its features with generative AI, while also helping companies reduce costs at the same time.

KPMG, another Microsoft partner, leveraged the power of the Now Platform and its integration with generative AI to identify new value-creation opportunities and efficiencies. “KPMG and ServiceNow’s longstanding alliance has empowered countless organizations to deliver value through technology, and these enhanced capabilities will accelerate time to value,” said Gary Plotkin, Principal, Advisory and Global ServiceNow Lead for KPMG.

The new platform harnesses generative AI to power new developer tools and risk-management solutions in addition to driving higher productivity, smarter experiences, and faster time to value. ServiceNow Generative AI Controller, a new One Platform solution, lets organizations easily connect ServiceNow instances to both Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and OpenAI API large language models. Additionally, customers can quickly and easily integrate popular AI capabilities — such as answering questions and summarizing or generating content — into existing ServiceNow experiences such as Virtual Agent from a single integration point.

Additionally, Now Assist for Search provides natural language responses based on customers’ own knowledge bases when questions are posed in Portal Search, Next Experience, or Virtual Agent. Because information is pulled from within each customer’s environment, they can trust results are more accurate and robust security layers are applied.

Using AI to improve existing IP and services
Global learning platform company Kahoot! is leveraging Microsoft AI to expand the use of its IP, a pool of content that includes more than 1 billion user-generated questions and 100 million publicly available quizzes.

Many customers use this content to manually create their own quizzes, but Kahoot! wanted to improve its tangible value-adds for users who want more efficient and engaging offerings. By applying Azure OpenAI Service algorithms that use deep learning and large-language models, Kahoot! can help users automatically pull together lessons and quizzes in an instant, no matter the topic.

AI also now accelerates the Kahoot! brainstorming feature by automatically grouping ideas based on similarity-matching to streamline brainstorming and educational sessions. Additionally, AI-powered semantic search is improving search results and content recommendations, making it easier for educators and students to find relevant questions and quizzes for their needs.
